Meet Our Founder Ann Nygard
Home holds a special place in the heart of Hauskaa founder Ann Nygard, perhaps because she has found it in so many diverse and inspiring places.
Growing up in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom, Ann developed a connection to nature and community. As a teenager, she studied abroad in Finland, igniting her passion for Nordic lifestyles that prioritize sustainability, quality of life, and honoring home as a sanctuary.
After living in Sweden and Helsinki while pursuing her studies, Ann discovered the central role of candles in Scandinavian home decor, imbuing warmth and inviting glow.
Her life has taken her around the world, from England to Rwanda and back to Vermont, learning to create a sense of home wherever she went by using cherished objects.
While healing from an accident in 2019, Ann found solace in woodworking at a local Maker Space, where she crafted the first Hauskaa home. Since then, Ann and her team have built entire Hauskaa villages, each unique piece awaiting its forever home – and that’s where you become part of our story.
